BTR is booming. The number of build-to-rent homes in planning, under construction, or completed across the UK on the rise. Outside of London, there are now 168,000 BTR homes that fall under these categories, a 22% increase compared to this time last year – the BTR revolution is in full swing.
Where are we bringing decent homes and great places to live next? Lincolnshire – more specifically, Boston.
Why? The town itself has big ambitions as part of the Government’s £3.6bn Towns Fund, which is giving Boston the opportunity for a significant investment of up to £25m for regeneration, improved transport, better broadband connectivity, skills, and culture. Housing is undoubtedly going to be vital alongside such substantial regeneration.
We’re pleased to announce the launch of our development on Fenside Road in Boston, the first BTR scheme delivered in partnership with our partners Seagate Homes Group UK. It’s great that we are now able to bring this ethos to Lincolnshire alongside Seagate Homes in what will be the first institutionally funded BTR scheme of any scale in Boston. With the build program due to get underway in early October, the development will offer 53 new two and three-bedroom rental homes.
The new Boston development forms part of our continued growth plan, which aims to build more than 2,000 BTR homes across the UK every year.
Commenting on our latest announcement, Mark Gratton, Development and Land Manager, said:
“From day one, we have focused on high quality, purpose-built family housing to drive a better standard of living for tenants. It’s not just about building a house in a random location and then walking away. It needs to be much more about identifying the ideal sites, maintaining properties and communal spaces to high standards and creating and nurturing communities.”
A key part of our growth strategy is partnering with regional and national developers to deliver BTR schemes. With work due to commence in Boston imminently, Seagate Homes Group UK joins a list of development partners that includes Keon Homes and Lovell Homes.
Speaking about the new partnership Nathan Marshall, Director at Seagate Homes Group UK, said:
“We’re extremely excited to be part of this inaugural development, in partnership with Wise Living within our home county of Lincolnshire. Seagate Homes Group UK has established its name for prestigious built homes using traditional designs with outstanding quality and attention to detail, being awarded the region’s Premier Guarantee House Builder Award.
“In addition to our open market developments, we have always put Build to Rent and PRS schemes as a key focus of our family business, to diversify our client base, whilst supporting the ever-changing market and progression of the county. In this current climate, Build to Rent properties are needed more than ever within Lincolnshire to support the regeneration of the County.”
As one of the fastest-growing BTR providers in the UK, we have the ability to forward fund a range of opportunities for developers and housebuilder partners. Now we’re coming out of the Covid-19 lockdown period, is it time to consider how BTR can diversify your business model?
