We’re excited to share that building work has officially started on site in Rotherham. The £28m development will create 237 much-needed homes across two brownfield sites, 8o of which will be 1, 2, and 3-bedroom Wise Living homes.
ENGIE has brought together three development partners; Great Places Housing Group, Sanctuary Homes, and Wise Living to offer 135 homes for affordable rent, 80 homes for market rent, and 11 homes for shared ownership. Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council has provided the land for the flagship development to be built on. By working in partnership with ENGIE UK & Ireland, Great Places Housing Group, Sanctuary Group, and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, our shared ambition to deliver decent homes and great places to live for families across the UK will be at the centre of our plans.
Representatives from the partnership met at Chesterhill Avenue to celebrate the cutting of the first sod with Cabinet Member for Housing, Councillor Dominic Beck.

As part of this development, we will be partnering with a number of local colleges and schools, providing a variety of training and educational opportunities to the community.”
Rotherham Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, Councillor Dominic Beck, said: “I’m delighted that the Whinney Hill and Chesterhill Avenue sites will be developed to create much-needed homes in the borough. This development demonstrates what can be achieved through partnership working. This project marks a significant milestone in Rotherham’s 30-year Housing Strategy – providing high quality and energy-efficient homes for local people.”
